34.5kV 630 kVA Oil-Immersed Distribution Transformer for Ghana

Dingxin Electric manufactured 630 kVA oil-immersed distribution transformer for a power distribution project in Ghana.

The transformer was customized according to the customer’s required voltage ratio, load conditions, installation environment and utility connection requirements. The design focused on reliable performance, controlled temperature rise and safe operation under continuous distribution loads.

Local Grid and Safety Considerations

Ghana’s electricity regulations identify 11 kV, 33 kV and 34.5 kV distribution voltages, together with 400/230 V low-voltage supply and a nominal frequency of 50 Hz. 

The project engineering review covered:

• Customer-approved primary and secondary voltage
• 50 Hz frequency compatibility
• Transformer insulation and impulse withstand levels
• Winding temperature rise and cooling performance
• Vector group, impedance and tapping range
• Neutral and earthing configuration
• Lightning and overvoltage protection coordination

The transformer was designed with reference to applicable IEC 60076 requirements and the final technical specification approved for the project.
