Prefabricated Transformer Substation for the DRC

Dingxin supplied a customized prefabricated transformer substation integrating transformer, switchgear and protection equipment for a project in the DRC.

Dingxin Electric supplied a prefabricated transformer substation for a power distribution project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The substation integrates medium-voltage equipment, a transformer, low-voltage distribution equipment, protection devices and auxiliary components within a coordinated enclosure. Factory integration reduces on-site assembly and simplifies electrical interface management.

Local Grid and Safety Considerations

SNEL identifies several distribution voltage levels in the DRC, including 30 kV, 20 kV, 15 kV, 11 kV, 6.6 kV and 0.4 kV. It also notes that network voltages may differ between provinces. Therefore, the final substation voltage must match the local connection point and approved utility data.

The substation design review considered:

Prefabricated substations may be engineered with reference to IEC 62271-202, which covers service conditions, structural requirements and testing for enclosed high-voltage prefabricated substations.

Dingxin Solution

Dingxin coordinated the transformer, switchgear, enclosure and electrical interfaces as one system. The completed package was configured according to the customer’s single-line diagram, installation conditions and local network requirements.
