315 kVA Oil-Immersed Distribution Transformer for Ethiopia

Dingxin Electric supplied a customized 315 kVA oil-immersed distribution transformer for a power distribution project in Ethiopia.

The transformer was designed according to the customer’s load requirements, installation environment and connection conditions. Its voltage ratio, frequency, vector group, impedance, tapping range and accessories were configured according to the approved project specifications.

Local Grid and Safety Considerations

Ethiopia’s distribution system uses 50 Hz operation, with 15 kV and 33 kV among the recognized medium-voltage levels and 400/230 V used on low-voltage networks. The final transformer ratio must be selected according to the actual connection point and Ethiopian utility requirements. 

The engineering review considered:

The transformer was manufactured with reference to the applicable IEC 60076 requirements and the customer-approved technical specification. IEC 60076-1 covers general requirements for single-phase and three-phase power transformers.
